Nexus Solaris: From idea to product launch at record speed

Inventing the solution to catastrophic failures and energy loss in the solar industry became the starting point for Nexus Solaris, which has hit the ground running at record speed. Since its founding in June 2025, the startup has moved from idea over patent to launching a product already attracting international interest.

When Morten Degn founded Nexus Solaris in June 2025, he did it with a mission to solve a critical problem in the solar energy industry, driven by his own extensive experience in the field. He had witnessed firsthand how catastrophic failures in solar parks led to massive energy losses and, in the worst cases, total system fires.

Morten’s curiosity became a calling: He wanted to eliminate one of the industry's biggest sources of loss. He needed to invent a solution, and from that point on, things moved at a record pace.

The result is an entirely new installation method you can say acts as an innovative, technological lifeline designed to prevent the wide range of catastrophic failures. These failures carry enormous economic costs and lead to significant, unnecessary energy waste. The invention was so unique that it was granted an official patent in September 2025 - a seal of approval that validates the technology.

"The patent gave us the security we needed to speak openly about our solution including here in Barcelona, where we are currently participating in an international summit. It is the foundation that allows us to go out and make solar energy safer and more efficient by minimizing the risk of errors and damage throughout the entire value chain," says founder Morten Degn.

Product Launch and International Enthusiasm

The culmination of the first six months came earlier this week when Nexus Solaris celebrated their product launch. Same week - meaning right now - Morten Degn is attending a solar summit in Barcelona, where the product is receiving a highly enthusiastic reception from fellow participants:

"It’s hard to keep our feet on the ground when our product receives international recognition - and all of this has happened in just over six months."

Looking at an industry where Morten Degn has personally experienced these systemic flaws, the potential is both evident and necessary. The goal is clear: To mature the market through a fundamentally safer and more efficient installation method.

Backed by a Strong Local Ecosystem

Shortly before the patent was secured, Morten presented his invention to investor and business developer Jesper Brunhøj Jensen. Beyond the invention, it was also a shared passion for the Sønderborg area that brought the two together. They wanted to build a company in Sønderborg and contribute to the region's development.

Since the beginning, the STEAR Accelerator and the local ecosystem have played a major role in the startup's momentum. Shortly after its founding, Nexus Solaris was accepted into the STEAR Accelerator, where carefully selected energy & tech startups receive advisory services, visibility in media and in networks, and access to local and national investment to help them transition faster and more effectively from startup to scalable business.

According to Morten Degn, the continuous sparring and guidance from STEAR have been instrumental in their rapid development.

Prior to the product launch, Nexus Solaris won the "iPrisen" (Innovation Award) at the Business Event of the Year in November 2025. In addition to the recognition of their technology and ambitions, Nexus Solaris took home the main prize of DKK 25,000, sponsored by LINAK. The prize money provided the flexibility to attend the international summit in Barcelona, though the base remains local. The prize also included office space for four people, provided by Sønderborg Vækstråd:

"Right now, we need space for Jesper, myself, and our upcoming intern from SDU. But at the speed we’re moving, I don’t think it will be long before the fourth seat is taken as well. We want to stay in Sønderborg and create jobs here," Morten Degn concludes.
